Just three years ago, The People's Project organized a crowdfunding campaign to secure a 16-acre off-grid parcel of land in the Tennessee wilderness a few minutes walk from Dale Hollow Lake. Since then, a few pioneers have been bringing life to the space and forming strong ties with the local community.
This past week, a passionate crew of builders gathered on the land to work on the outdoor kitchen, complete with a wood-fired oven crafted from a metal barrel. The progress this land has made is a testament to the power of people coming together with their hands, hearts, and a shared vision for a more sustainable future. The Lakeland is also connected to over 200,000 acres of army core land, offering limitless potential for exploring the woods from our homebase. The two more permanent Lakeland residents plan to continue to develop the space for people to learn, teach and grow and invite newcomers who have a pioneer spirit to come visit.
